When behavior is driving school decisions, the plan needs to address why it is happening.
Calls home, removals from class, and repeated incident reports are exhausting, and they rarely improve without a plan built on data. Behavior that interferes with learning is a special education issue, not just a discipline issue.

What an FBA should tell you
A Functional Behavior Assessment looks at when a behavior happens, what comes before it, and what the student gets or avoids as a result. The purpose is to understand the function of the behavior so adults can teach a replacement skill and change the conditions around it.
What a strong BIP includes
A Behavior Intervention Plan should name the target behavior in observable terms, describe prevention strategies, teach a replacement behavior, tell staff exactly how to respond, and define how progress is measured. If it only lists consequences, it is not a plan.

Can I request an FBA?
Yes, in writing. Describe the behaviors you are seeing, the pattern in school reports, and why you believe an assessment is needed.
My child keeps getting sent home. Is that allowed?
Frequent informal removals are worth documenting carefully. Bring the dates and communications to a consultation so we can look at the pattern together.
Does Access & Bloom provide behavior therapy?
