IEP or 504 plan?
An IEP provides specialized instruction and related services under special education law. A 504 plan provides accommodations and access. Some students qualify for one, some for the other, and some start with a 504 and later need a full special education evaluation. We look at your child's data rather than guessing.
Making accommodations stick
A plan works when it is specific: what the accommodation is, when it applies, who provides it, and how you will know it happened. Vague language is the most common reason a 504 plan quietly stops working by October.

My child has a medical diagnosis. Is that enough for a 504 plan?
A diagnosis alone does not decide eligibility. The team looks at whether the condition substantially limits a major life activity, including learning, in the school setting.
The 504 plan exists but teachers are not following it.
That is an implementation problem, and it is fixable. We put your concerns in writing and request a meeting to review how each accommodation is being delivered.
Can I ask for an IEP evaluation while a 504 plan is in place?
Yes. A 504 plan does not prevent you from requesting a special education evaluation in writing.
